Neurological Disorders

Neurological DisordersA neurological disorder is a disorder of the body’s nervous system. Structural, biochemical or electrical abnormalities in the spinal cord or brain, or in the nerves leading to or from them, can result in symptoms such as paralysis, muscle weakness, poor coordination, loss of sensation, seizures, confusion, distress and altered levels of consciousness.

Interventions include preventative measures, lifestyle changes, physiotherapy or other therapy, neurorehabilitation,  medication, or operations performed by neurosurgeons.

There are many recognized neurological disorders, some relatively common, but many rare. Some of the more common neurological disorders we treat are:

  • Spinal Cord injuries and/or diseases
  • Neuropathies
  • Strokes
  • Management of spasticity and contractures
  • Other conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, Parkinsonism, Muscular Dystrophy
